Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart entry system for a vehicle, which perform a lock avoiding control when a portable transceiver is shut up in a trunk room, and which can enhance the convenience of an occupant while solving the problem associated with security brought about by the lock avoiding control. SOLUTION: In the lock avoiding control in which a latch of a trunk latch mechanism 37 can be released without the ID authentication of a portable machine 2 concurrently with the sounding of an alarm in the case where a portable machine 4 is shut up in the trunk room S, when an ignition switch 39 is in an ON-position or when the vehicle travels (step SB13: YES), the sounding of the alarm is stopped (step SB14) so that the lock avoiding control can be suspended.
