EMERGENCY STOP DEVICE OF ELEVATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency stop device of an elevator capable of reducing the capacity of an actuator. SOLUTION: The device comprises an actuator (electromagnet 11) to be operated when the elevating speed of a car 3 exceeds a predetermined value, a damper 12 which is slidably brought into contact with a guide rail 2 according to the operation of the actuator 11 to decelerate and stop the car 3, a holding means 13 which is engaged with the actuator 11 to hold the damper 12 at the waiting position, a guide means 14 which is displaceably arranged in the direction orthogonal to the guide rail 2 and has an inclined surface to guide the damper 12 naturally dropped by the self-weight as the holding means 13 is released in the direction slidably contact with the guide rail 2, and a spring 15 to press the guide means 14 in the direction of the guide rail 2. The damper 12 naturally dropped by the self weight in a space between the guide rail 2 and the guide means 14 as the holding means 13 is released is pressed against the guide rail 2 by the spring 15 via the guide means 14 to obtain the braking force.
