SPINDLE HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle head, rotating a tool rotating shaft at high speed and securing the rotational rigidity of the tool rotating shaft. SOLUTION: An indexing rotating shaft 24 is supported on a mounting eye 22 through a bearing 23. A head case 25 is connected in series to the tip of the indexing rotating shaft 24. The tip of the head case 25 is provided with the tool rotating shaft 27 on which a tool 26 rotating around a first orthogonal axis O2 orthogonal to the central axis O1 of the indexing rotating shaft 24 is mounted. A spindle motor 29 is fitted to the outside of the head case 25, and a power transmission mechanism 31 is interposed between a driving shaft 30 and the tool rotating shaft 27. The power transmission mechanism 31 is formed of first to sixth spur gears 35, 40 to 44. The tooth flank pressure of the spur gears of the power transmitting mechanism 31 becomes strong so that the tool rotating shaft 27 can be rotated at high speed to improve the efficiency of work machining operation.
