Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding apparatus for a battery case for a storage battery free from defective welding in a welding part between a lid and a battery case main body or that of a lid mounted in an inclined state. SOLUTION: After a welding face 1e of the battery case body 1 on the battery case holding base 4 and the welding face 2e of the lid 2 held by a lid holding member 5 have been made to be fused with a hot plate 6, the welding face 1e is brought into contact with the welding face 2e to weld the lid 2 to the battery case body 1. When the welding face of the lid 2 is brought into contact with the hot plate, a positioning member 11 which keeps a distance between the lid holding member 5 and the hot plate 6 constant is mounted on the lid holding member 5, and when the hot plate 6 is brought into contact with the welding face 1e of the battery case body 1, the positioning member 12 which keeps the distance between the hot plate 6 and the welding face 1e of the battery case body 1 constant is mounted on the battery case holding base 4. When the welding face 2e of the lid is brought into contact with the welding face 1e of the battery case body 1, the distance between the lid holding member 5 and the battery case holding base 4 is kept constant by constituting a third positioning member after tips of the positioning members 11 and 12 are coupled with each other.
