Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum breaker having high reliability for ensuring vacuum breakage without causing the leakage during washing. SOLUTION: The vacuum breaker comprises a tubular casing having an inflow port and an outflow port for washing water and a vent hole in the side face, and a flexible valve member having a slit portion opposed thereto ranging from a cylindrical portion via a tapered portion. The flexible valve member has the cylindrical portion stored with a gap to the inner wall face of the casing and its diameter is enlarged by washing water supplied from the inflow port to close the vent hole and prevent the leakage of water from the casing and to close the slit portion in response to the vacuum condition of the inflow port and prevent the backflow from the outflow port into the inflow port. On the downstream side beyond the vent hole of the cylindrical portion of the flexible valve member, a bead portion is formed in the peripheral direction which is protruded toward the casing opposed thereto.
