SOLUTION: This plate fin type heat exchanger 1A composed by alternately stacking a plurality of plates 5 and a plurality of fins 7 is provided with: first side bars 9 installed on side parts of the plates 5 for forming, in cooperation with the plates 5, passages 11 for heat exchange for running a primary gas G1 and a secondary gas G2 therethrough; and second side bars 10 installed in the side parts of the plates 5 and outside the first side bars 9 for forming, in cooperation with the plates 5 and the first wall side bars 9, second spaces 13 independent of the passages 11 for heat exchange and the outside.
