SHEET CARRYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position a sheet by a registration roller to a formed image of a plotting system, by enhancing constant pitch accuracy of successive constant pitch carrying of a plurality of sheets. SOLUTION: This sheet carrying device has a sheet feed roller 212, a carrier roller 215 for carrying the sheet to this feed roller, a sheet sensor 217 for detecting the sheet on a sheet carrying passage to the feed roller from the carrier roller, a means 513 for measuring an interval between the rear end of a preceding sheet and the tip of a succeeding sheet on the basis of a sheet detecting signal, and a carrying control means 517 for adjusting a sheet carrying speed of the carrier roller for adjusting the interval between the preceding sheet and the succeeding sheet to a preset value in response to the measured interval. The carrying control means adjusts a timing value Lst for temporarily stopping the carrier roller after the sheet tip reaches the feed roller in stopping in response to the sheet carrying speed for setting the sheet length constant between the feed roller and the carrier roller when stopping the carrier roller.
