Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small light source having a function of automatically correcting effect of deterioration with the passage of time. SOLUTION: This is a light source (50) having a photodetectors (58, 60, 72, 75) embedded in a light pipe (52). The light pipe (52) has a layer of transparent material and the layer of the transparent material has an upper face and a bottom face, and further, a first and a second opposed side faces crossing the upper and the bottom faces. The photodetectors (58, 60, 72, 75) are embedded in the layer at a position adjoining the second side face, and a plurality of emitters (11, 101-106) are arranged so as to make the light couple with the layer of a material at the critical angle or smaller of the layer from the first end face. The bottom face can have a projection (22) to diffuse the light upward. The controller (71) adjusts the intensity of light of the various kinds of emitters (11, 106-106), according to the intensity of light detected by the photodetectors (58, 60, 72, 75).
