Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a softening agent for paper, capable of imparting excellent flexibility and sizing ability to the paper. SOLUTION: The softening agent for the paper comprises a condensate of an amidoamine compound with urea. The condensate is obtained by reacting two kinds of amidoamine compounds having different rates of amidation with the urea in an amount of 0.1-1 mol eq. based on 1 mol amino group of the amidoamine compounds.
