Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor used for fuel-cell vehicles, etc. which is reduced in size and cost and increased in capacity. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is composed of a case 2 wherein a plurality of storage chambers 2a for storing a capacitor element 1 together with an electrolyte for driving are continuously formed, and a cover 3 for sealing the top opening of the case 2. Both the case 2 and the cover 3 are formed of aluminum. By joining end faces of each capacitor element 1 to the inner bottom plane of the storage chamber 2a formed in the case 2 and the inner plane of the cover 3, the individual capacitor elements 1 are electrically connected to each other. By this structure, the number of components can be reduced, the number of assembling processes and management items can also be reduced, and thereby a cost can be reduced.
