PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium having excellent scratch resistance and antifouling properties of the surface of the optical recording medium on a recording and reproducing laser beam incident side, to provide its manufacturing method, to provide a recording and playback method of the optical recording medium and to provide an optical recording and reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium which has a substrate, an information layer on the substrate and a light transmissive substrate on the information layer and wherein the information layer is irradiated with a laser beam through the light transmissive substrate to perform at least either one of recording and reproduction of information, the light transmissive substrate has a fluoroalkyl silane coating layer on the surface thereof.
