PROJECTION TYPE IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display apparatus designed such that a light source that is the main factor of heat generation of an image light generating element can be efficiently cooled by sending air, also heat of the image light generating element can be efficiently dissipated, and size, nose and cost are reduced. SOLUTION: The image light generating element 4 is provided with a heat sink 7 for dissipating heat of the image light generating element itself and heat of light guided from a light source unit. A sirocco fan 8 is disposed opposite the heat sink 7. High temperature air dissipated from the heat sink 7 is sucked by the operation of the sirocco fan 8, and thus the heat of the image light generating element 4 is efficiently dissipated. An air current sent from the sirocco fan 8 is guided to the light source unit 2 via a duct 9 extending from an exhaust section 80b.
