Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum method for covering a sufficiently thin flake substrate having 100-2,000 μm, preferably, 200-1,500 μm particle size with a metallic oxide having high refractive index, so as to reduce production time. SOLUTION: The pearlescent pigment is obtained by smoothly covering a flake substrate having 100-2,000 μm particle size and 0.1-1 μm thickness with an iron compound, wherein a specified amount of divalent anion is added to slurry or an iron salt solution by a method based on the neutralization titration method.
