METHOD FOR CONCENTRATING SILICA-DISPERSED LIQUID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for concentrating silica fine particle-dispersed liquid without generating coarse particles such as gel or scales, and to provide a coating liquid for ink jet recording paper, the coating liquid containing silica dispersed-liquid obtained by the method, and a ink jet recording paper on which the coating liquid has been applied and which is good in lustrous feeling. SOLUTION: The method for concentrating the silica-dispersed liquid containing silica fine particles is characterized in that the silica fine particles has such a characteristic that the average particle diameter of secondary particles is ≤1 μm, the volume of pores having pore diameters within the range of 3-200 nm is 0.4-2.0 ml/g and the specific surface area is 50-400 m2/g, and in that the concentration is performed by an ultrafiltration method in an earlier stage of a concentration process, and the concentration is performed by a vacuum evaporation method in a later stage of the concentration process.
