Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication apparatus capable of transmitting image data with a transmission efficiency as high as possible and with a coding system causing less image deterioration depending on a network state on each occasion in the case of transmitting the image data via a network. SOLUTION: The inspection means 40 of the image communication apparatus 10 inspects the communication channel quality of the network, a selection means 42 selects a coding system whereby as the communication channel quality is more deteriorated, the abnormity of coded image data less affects the deterioration in the image data after decoding, and a coding/decoding section 41 transmits the image data coded by the selected coding system to a transmission destination terminal.
