IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND DEVELOPING CARTRIDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the color of developer stored in a developing cartridge with simple constitution in a color laser printer. SOLUTION: Each toner storing chamber 92 is provided with an incoming/outgoing part 190 for a color having the relation of a complementary color to the color of toner to be stored in each developing cartridge 32, and a light emitting part 180a irradiates the incoming/outgoing part 190 with light and also a light receiving part 180b receives the light which is reflected inside the toner storing chamber 92 after it is radiated to the incoming/outgoing part 190 by the light emitting part 180a, and emitted from the incoming/outgoing part 190 to the outside. A CPU decides the color of the toner stored in the toner storing chamber 92 on the basis of the received quantity of the light received by the light receiving part 180b with respect to the radiated quantity of the light by the light emitting part 180a.
