Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function for allowing a multi-function device to automatically commence a rights management query within a rights management system if rights management metadata are detected in a hard copy document presented to the multi-function device. SOLUTION: The system for rights management comprises: an image processor 300 for acquiring image data from a document; a user interface 400 for enabling a user at least either to input user authentication information (a) or to request processing to be executed by said system (b); a detector 230 for detecting rights management information if the rights management information is present in the acquired image data of the document; and a rights management device 250 for automatically performing a rights management scheme associated with the document based on the detected rights management information.
