PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member management method and apparatus capable of providing services for individual members while protecting privacies of the members. SOLUTION: The member information management center apparatus 1 which is connected to a member service provider apparatus 2 having a secondary member ID in association with an individual member ID via a network 5 and manages the member information on a member who owns the member medium 4 is provided with an individual member information database 111 for managing the individual member information with the individual member ID, and a secondary member information database 112 for managing the secondary member information with the secondary member ID. When it receives from the member service provider apparatus 2 service provider relating information for corresponding the individual member ID to the secondary member ID, it performs name identification, and in so doing, performs specified information processing to prevent the individual member information from being uniformly estimated to create abstract individual member information, creates name identification member information including the secondary member ID and the abstract individual member information to store them in the secondary member information database 112, and destroys information for corresponding the secondary member ID to the individual member ID.
