BREATH COLLECTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and high-versatility breath collecting system which enables time-lapse bread collecting from animal, in such a condition as being close to physiological conditions, without invasiveness, anesthesia, restraint, or stress at normal pressure. SOLUTION: This system realizes breath-collecting from animal in a condition that enables the animal under test to be in unanesthetized, unrestraint and normal pressure status with stress minimized, as much as possible, by putting the animal into an animal storage container bigger than its body in size, after administering the animal with a13C-labeled reactant. Additionally, discharged breath is continuously transferred at a constant rate during test period, by using an exhalation transfer device from an exhalation inlet provided in a size smaller than that of the animal body that is encased in the animal storage container, to be collected into an breath reservoir container. Also simultaneous breath collecting from many individuals can be made possible by installing a head which enables multiple-line breath transfer in the exhalation transfer device, and by loading the animal storage container and the breath reservoir container for each line.
