IMAGE OUTPUT DEVICE AND IMAGE OUTPUT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image output device by which the waiting time for channel switching can be effectively used by providing information of high degree of necessity during the waiting time for channel switching. SOLUTION: The image output device is provided with a first signal processing means which decodes image signals of a selected channel; a second signal processing means which decodes image signals of a selected channel; and an output control means which starts selection of the second channel by the second signal processing means and decoding of image signals of the second channel, while it continues output of decoded image of the first channel by the first signal processing means according to switching instruction to output of decoded image of the second channel during output of decoded image of the first channel by the first signal processing means, and switches from output of decoded image of the first channel to output of decoded image of the second channel upon completion of preparation for output of decoded image of the second channel.
