CATHODE RAY TUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode ray tube capable of obtaining sufficient explosion-proof property by securing fastening force at a part excluding corner parts of an outer peripheral face of a face panel skirt part. SOLUTION: A bulb is composed of a face panel 2 having a phosphor screen on its inner face and a funnel connected to a backside of the face panel 2. An explosion-proof band 6 for preventing implosion of the bulb is fitted to the outer peripheral face of of the face panel skirt part 2s by a shrinkage fit. A projection part 14 projected toward face panel 2 side is formed at a part of the explosion-proof band 6 corresponding to the part excluding the skirt part 2s of the face panel 2 so as to become nearly symmetrical about a central horizontal axis (X-axis) of the face panel 2 and a central vertical axis (Y-axis).
