SOLUTION: In this magnet hand device of a steel material handling apparatus, a body frame 1 is provided with a pair of electromagnets 5a, 5b, opening and closing link mechanisms 6a, 6b for supporting the respective electromagnets 5a, 5b so that the attracting surfaces 5c, 5d of the electromagnets are turned from the inward state of confronting with each other to the downward state, and a cylinder device 7 for driving the opening and closing link mechanisms 6a, 6b.
