Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink which is insusceptible to problems accompanying an increase in speed such as clogging of nozzles and deflection of a jetting direction and excellent in flowability, storage stability, permeability. drying characteristics, etc. , and to provide an ink-jet recording method and an apparatus such as an ink cartridge using the ink. SOLUTION: The aqueous ink comprises a pigment, a 9C diol derivative, a self-emulsified water-dispersed polyester resin, and a component represented by general formula (I), wherein R1denotes a 8-22C alkyl group or an alkylphenyl group; M denotes any one selected from an alkali metal ion, quaternary ammonium, quaternary phosphonium, and alkanolamine; and n denotes an integer of 4-21.
