Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device by inexpensive structure, which drives a latch with minimum required current and reduces power consumption in a HDD having an electromagnetic latch. SOLUTION: In an electromagnetic latch mechanism which latches an actuator using a permanent magnet attached to a latch arm, the mechanism consists of: an electromagnet which has winding and transfers the latch arm between a first position and a second position by acting a controllable magnetic field to the permanent magnet; and a latch mechanism drive circuit having a current circuit for generating a first magnetic field which supplies current for generating the first magnetic field to the winding of the electromagnet and a current circuit for generating a second magnetic field which supplies current for generating the second magnetic field different from the first magnetic field to the winding of the electromagnet. The mechanism also has a control means for selectively switching the current circuit for generating the first and second magnetic fields according to temperature detected by a temperature sensor.
