Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the position of an image with high precision. SOLUTION: The above problem is dissolved by providing two light receiving parts arranged at predetermined distance in the transfer direction of the image carrier and a comparison output part which calculates difference between a first analog signal to be obtained from a light receiving part which detects a toner image adhered on the image carrier by movement of the image carrier earlier and a second analog signal to be obtained from a light receiving part which detects the toner image later, compares positive and negative states with each other from the difference, and performs binary output of the difference when the toner image passes detection positions of the two light receiving parts in this image position detection device which detects the position of the image based on reflected light from an image carrier to radiated light from a light emission source, and by inputting the first and second analog signals by providing difference of levels by the comparison output part.
