Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an element which is small in size and low in breaking strength with respect to an AC driving method for a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: One electrode 36a of a pixel capacitor 36 in a pixel cell 30 is connected to a pixel electrode 34a of a liquid crystal cell 34, the other electrode 36 is connected to the source electrode 33S of a pixel transistor 33, and a signal line 14 is connected to the drain electrode 33D of the pixel transistor 33. An AC potential corresponding to an input signal is sampled in the liquid crystal cell 34 through the pixel transistor 33 and pixel capacitor 36. A potential applied to the pixel cell 30 is nearly equal to an input video signal amplitude Va. A cell can be made small-sized by lowering the dielectric strength of a transistor for a switch used for the cell and further the dielectric strength of an element used for a driver for signal supply can also be lowered.
