Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a two-stage pulse tube refrigerator capable of providing high efficiency by a small capacity compressor. SOLUTION: In this two-stage pulse tube refrigerator, a fist stage side pulse tube refrigerator (1) and a second stage side pulse tube refrigerator (2) are arranged parallel with each other. A first stage side cold accumulator (3) and a second stage side cold accumulator (4) are communicably connected to a shared compressor unit (5) through a flow passage changeover valve (6). When the flow passage changeover valve (6) is connected to either of the first stage side cold accumulator (3) and the second stage side cold accumulator (4) in the high-pressure flow passage (15) of the compressor unit (5), a high-pressure gas from the compressor unit (5) is selectively supplied to the first stage side cold accumulator (3) or the second stage side cold accumulator (4) by controlling the flow passage changeover valve so that the low-pressure flow passage (16) of the compressor unit (5) can be connected to the other sides of the first stage side cold accumulator (3) and the second stage side cold accumulator (4).
