Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cationized starch that has a high degree of cationization, contains a small amount of impurities such as an unreacted cationizing agent or a by-produced salt, gives a highly transparent aqueous solution and is suitable for a compounding ingredient for cosmetics or the like, and an efficient manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the cationized starch comprises causing starch to react with the cationizing agent in the presence of a basic compound and a reaction solvent comprised of a lower alcohol and water to form the cationized starch and subjecting the cationized starch in the reaction mixture to liquid-liquid extraction using an extracting solvent comprised of the lower alcohol and water. The cationized starch is manufactured by the manufacturing method. The starch may be a low-cationized starch having a degree of cationization of less than 1.0 mass%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
