TORQUE CONVERTER INCLUDING LOCK-UP CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAVING FLOATING FRICTION DISC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter including a torque input member and an impeller assembly operably connected to the torque input member. SOLUTION: A turbine assembly is connected to an impeller, and a lock-up clutch is arranged between the turbine assembly and the torque input member. The lock-up clutch transmits torque between the torque input member and the turbine assembly, and it includes an annular piston mounted on the turbine assembly and a friction plate movably supported on the annular piston and operably arranged between the annular piston and the torque input member. A first friction member is operably arranged between the friction plate and the torque input member, while a second friction member is operably arranged between the friction plate and the annular piston. The torque is transmitted from the torque input member through the first friction member, the friction plate, the second friction member and the annular piston to the turbine assembly.
