Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester polymerization catalyst excellent in catalytic activity and capable of giving such a polyester as to scarcely cause foreign matter, to be excellent in a color tone and thermal stability, and to give a molded product excellent in transparency, to provide the polyester produced by using the catalyst, and to provide a method for producing the polyester. SOLUTION: This polyester polymerization catalyst comprises at least one kind selected from a group consisting of water-soluble aluminum compounds, wherein the water-soluble aluminum compound comprises a basic aluminum acetate which has a content of water-insoluble substances of ≤500 ppm.
