Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic ball and a ceramic ball group which do not damage a ladle, are easily maintained, and prevent heat radiation from the surface of a molten metal as well as the formation of an oxide film on the surface of the molten metal, and their using methods. SOLUTION: The ceramic ball 1 is composed of heat-resistant ceramics and floats on a molten metal 2. The ceramic ball group 1 consists of a plurality of ceramic balls 1. The ceramic ball group 1 preferably contains at least 2 kinds of ceramic balls, viz. a kind of ceramic ball and the other kind of ceramic ball which has a bulk specific gravity higher than that of the former ceramic ball. The ceramic ball group is used by floating each ceramic ball composing the ceramic ball group on a molten metal 2 held in a holding furnace 3.
