Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering angle sensor capable of detecting an exact steering angle also in backward movement. SOLUTION: The steering angle detector comprises a yaw rate detecting means for detecting yaw rate of a vehicle, a plurality of segments for dividing a steering movable region to a plurality of regions and outputting a first value according to the steering angle in each region, a segment specifying means for specifying a segment having the steering angle based on the relationship between the yaw rate detected by the yaw rate detecting means and the first value that is output from the segment, and a steering angle calculating section for detecting the steering angle from the first value outputted by the segment and the segment specified by the segment specifying means. The segment specifying means has a forward movement area for specifying the segment from the relation between the yaw rate at the forward movement time of the vehicle and the first value, and a backward movement area for specifying the segment from the relation between the yaw rate at the backward movement time of the vehicle and the first value, and specifies the segment at the forward and backward movement time of the vehicle.
