OPTICAL DISK AND OPTICAL DISK RECORDING AND REPRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk and an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus wherein positioning of tracking is made easy, without requiring track jump and two or more optical spots can be disposed on one land or groove, without making the control accuracy of focusing deteriorated. SOLUTION: The optical disk wherein recording of data is performed at a groove to be a spiral groove part or at a land to be a flat part which forms a recording layer, by using a prescribed number of optical spots S formed by irradiation with a laser beam by a laser diode array 5, has a multi-beam recording format region, wherein the groove or the land has a width in which the prescribed number of optical spots can be housed when the optical spots are arranged in a radial direction and a common recording format region wherein the groove or the land has a width, in which one optical spot can be housed.
