METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SELECTING ACCESS POINT IN WIRELESS NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed AP selection and assignment technology, by which a WM of a subscriber selects and switches an access point AP providing a service in response to a network state. SOLUTION: This invention method and device is used, in a wireless communication network, where a best service providing access point among base stations is retrieved as a function of communication link quality and a load level thereby allowing a subscriber terminal to react a radio frequency RF state and a change in the load level. In one embodiment, the wireless modem in a fixed wireless access starts an access point retrieval algorithm, at first application of power of the subscriber terminal or in response to a trigger state such as deterioration in the communication link quality or the load level. After detecting a beacon of adjacent access points, the wireless modem selects the best access point as a function of the communication link quality and the relative load level to maintain the proper service quality and to react a change in the load level.
