PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which can determine exposure conditions appropriately even when luminance in an object is deviated. SOLUTION: The digital camera includes a CCD, an A/D, a memory which stores image data, an exposure meter which receives a light from the object and determines provisional exposure conditions, a CCD, a means for controlling the CCD, the A/D, and the memory. The control means is configured of digitizing analog image data for determining the exposure conditions as a result of test photographing; calculating the difference value of the upper limit value Dul of the dynamic range of the CCD and the maximum value Dmax of a concentration level, and the difference value of a predetermined concentration level D0 and the maximum value Dmax of the concentration level, based on the histogram formed by a histogram formation means to create the histogram of the concentration level of the data for determining the exposure conditions stored in the memory; outputting to the exposure condition determination means; and determining the exposure conditions.
