Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber structure for an internal combustion engine capable of creating strong squish flow by forming large squish area and capable of surely transferring created squish flow to a proximity of a spark plug. SOLUTION: A flat squish surface 15 crossing an axial line of a piston 3 at right angle is formed in an intake side of a piston top surface, the squish area 16 is formed between the squish surface 15 and a flat squish surface 12 on a cylinder head side, and a squish guide surface 17 is formed on the piston top surface with rising continuously from the squish surface 15 toward the proximity of the spark plug 7. Squish flow is generated by the squish area 16 in proximity of compression top dead center of the piston 3 and the squish flow is guided toward the spark plug 7 by the squish guide surface 17.
