Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production apparatus and production method for uniformizing the temperature distribution in a horizontal direction of a molten raw material in a square crucible or the like in a production method of a plate-like crystal, comprising dipping a substrate into a raw material melt controlled to a low temperature close to the solidification point and growing a thin plate-like crystal on the substrate. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for manufacturing a plate-like crystal, in which a raw material is heated and melted in a crucible and the crystal of the raw material is solidified and grown on the substrate, a plurality of movable heat insulating means are provided on the edge parts of side parts of the opening part of the crucible.
