Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sports moving picture summarizing method and apparatus capable of efficiently summarizing sports moving pictures. SOLUTION: An apparatus for summarizing a sports moving picture according to the present invention comprises: a data extracting unit 110 for segmenting the sports moving picture into shots and extracting audio data and video data of the segmented shots; an event detection unit 120 for detecting an event that occurs in the shot utilizing the extracted audio data and video data by shots; an importance level calculation unit 130 for calculating a level of importance for each shot based on the detected event of the shot; and a summarization unit 140 for summarizing the sports moving picture by selecting important shots in the sports moving picture based on the calculated levels of importance by shots.
