TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM AND ETC ONBOARD DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable automatic collection of a toll even if insertion of an IC card to an ETC onboard device is forgotten at an entrance toll booth of the toll road, while permitting the traveling in the toll road. SOLUTION: When a vehicle is passed through the inlet toll booth 200, toll booth information necessary for collection of tool is transmitted to the vehicle from the toll booth 200 even if the IC card is not inserted to the ETC onboard device100, and the information is stored in a nonvolatile memory provided in the onboard device 100. The onboard device 100 announces that the IC card is not inserted. When the IC card is inserted thereafter, the toll booth information stored in the nonvolatile memory is written to the IC card, and the information in the nonvolatile memory is erased.
