SUBMERGENCE DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPTICAL FIBER CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submergence detection system and method for an optical fiber cable in relation to the maintenance of an optical fiber cable so as to monitor submergence into a closure which houses a connecting part disposed in an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The system includes: a test light generating means which generates test light to be introduced through an end of an optical fiber cable; a light power measuring means which receives the test light exiting from the opposite end opposing to the end of the optical fiber cable and measures an optical loss; and a submergence detection module which is mounted on the optical fiber cable in a connector box and detects submergence by increasing the optical loss of the optical fiber cable.
