TRANSMISSION CONTROL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission control device capable of fail safe, by detecting abnormality of the reverse prohibition/permission switching function in ordinary travel. SOLUTION: A CPU of an automatic transmission control device determines whether or not an R contact point of a shift lever becomes ON from an OFF (Step 141); and determines whether or not a vehicle speed V is faster than a reverse prohibiting vehicle speed Vo when the shift lever is switched to an R range (Step 142). The CPU determines whether or not there is a sudden change in the speed reduction direction of the vehicle speed when the vehicle speed V is faster than the reverse prohibiting vehicle speed Vo (Step 143); and outputs the effect by determining that reverse prohibition of a reverse prohibition/permission switching solenoid is abnormal when there is the sudden change in the speed reduction direction of the vehicle speed (Step 144). While, the CPU outputs its effect by determining that the reverse prohibition is normal when determining that there is no change in the speed reduction direction of the vehicle speed (Step 145).
