Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely and efficiently producing a 2-alkoxy-5-tetrazolyl-benzaldehyde compound by formylating a (4-alkoxyphenyl)-tetrazole compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing a 2-alkoxy-5-(alkyltetrazol-5-yl)-benzaldehyde comprises reacting a 5-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-alkyl-tetrazole with hexamethylenetetramine in a sulfonic acid solvent and then hydrolyzing the reaction product. The method for producing a 2-alkoxy-5-(tetrazol-2-yl)-benzaldehyde compound comprises reacting a 2-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-2H-tetrazole compound with hexamethylenetetramine in a sulfonic acid solvent and then hydrolyzing the reaction product.
