Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and remove zero valent mercury gas from treating object gas with a sufficient removal ratio, while suppressing a using amount of a mercury oxidizer. SOLUTION: In this separation and removal method, a mercury oxidizer having tri-valent ferric ions Fe3+as a component is contained, an aqueous solution with pH about less than 1 is brought into contact with the treating object gas to convert zero valent mercury gas into bi-valent mercury gas and to dissolve it into the aqueous solution, to thereby separate and remove zero valent mercury gas from the treating object gas.
