Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical type pipe joint of high reliability capable of surely preventing occurrence of accidents such as slipping-off of a pipe and leakage of fluid. SOLUTION: In this pipe joint, one end portion of a pipe P is inserted into a socket portion 7 of a joint main body 1 from a pressing ring 2. Here, a cutting edge of one end portion of the pipe is passed through a lock ring 5 while pressing and expanding the lock ring 5, and further inserted until it is collided with a pipe end stopper portion 8 through a packing pressor 4 and a rubber packing 3. Then the lock ring 5 is fitted to a lock ring groove by elastic restoring action. Then the pressing ring 2 is rotated in the tightening direction until a first taper face 12 is brought into contact with a receiving face 4a of the packing pressor 4. Then the rubber packing 3 seals between one end portion outer peripheral face of the pipe P and an inner periphery of a rubber packing storage space portion 9 by being axially compressed and deformed through the packing pressor 4 in final tightening. Simultaneously, a straight face 13 of the pressing ring 2 is moved to an outer periphery of the lock ring 5 to prevent the lock ring 5 from projecting from the lock ring groove 6.
