DATA CONVERTER, DATA CONVERTING METHOD, DATA CONVERSION PROGRAM AND PROGRAM RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert an AV stream of VR stan including compressed voice data consisting only of dual sound or of dual sound and stereo sound into an AV stream of video standard at a high rate. SOLUTION: A compressed voice data extracting section 213 and an input voice determination section 216 extract voice data of dual sound from an input AV stream, any one of main voice data or sub-voice data of the extracted voice data is selected according to a voice selection method preset at a dual sound selecting section 215, the same voice data thus selected is set in a compressed voice data converting section 214 for both main and sub-voice data, and after it is converted into compressed voice data of stereo sound, an RDI header is converted into NV header at an RDI to NV converting section 212 and recorded on a data recording medium while being added with management information. The dual sound selecting section 215 can select an arbitrary method set by the user in addition to a predetermined standard method, and intensity stereo encoding and/or mid/side stereo encoding is applicable to voice data conversion.
