COLOR GAMUT BOUNDARY DETECTOR, COLOR GAMUT BOUNDARY DETECTING METHOD AND COLOR GAMUT MAPPING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color gamut boundary detector, a color gamut boundary detecting method and a color gamut mapping method, by which accurate color gamut boundary detection and mapping can be performed. SOLUTION: The color gamut boundary detector is provided with a color coordinate transforming part 100 which transforms inputted color coordinate values of a color sample into values (γ, θ and α) of a spherical coordinate system, an interpolation part 200 which adds color coordinate values by using adjacent color coordinate values, when there are segments having no color coordinate values among segments of the spherical coordinates system evenly divided into a specified number of pieces, a decision part 300 which detects the color coordinate values having the largest diameter γ of the color coordinate values, positioned in the segment for each of the divided segments, based on the color coordinate values for which the detected radius γ is the largest, and a color gamut detecting part 400 which detects the color coordinate values, having the largest diameter γ which are most adjacent to the center of the segment for each of the segments and detects the color gamut boundary.
