SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device capable of protecting both the breast and the waist of an occupant even if it is mounted on the seat back part of a multi-functional seat. SOLUTION: The side airbag device 24 is mounted on a front seat 21 having a shaft 22 for changing the seat use form on the base end part of the seat back part 21b. The side airbag device 24 is equipped with an airbag 29 to deploy and inflate with the pressure of gas jetted out of an inflator 28, the deployment and inflation being made between the body side part of the vehicle and the part from the breast to waist of the occupant P seated on the front seat 21 in the cabin. On the seat back part 21b, the airbag 29 is installed over the shaft 22, where also a bottom wall 25a is provided to restrict the airbag 29 deploying toward the shaft 22 when the airbag 29 is deployed and inflated.
