METHOD OF FOLDING UP AIRBAG AND AIRBAG DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of folding up an airbag capable of suppressing the leakage of inflation gas at the airbag opening and provide an airbag device. SOLUTION: A side airbag device 22 is equipped with the airbag 24, an inflator 25, and a retainer 26. The airbag 24 is shaped as a sack, and at its base end the airbag opening 27 is formed to admit insertion of the retainer 26. The retainer 26 whereto the inflator 25 is inserted is arranged on the base end side inside the airbag 24 in such a condition as partially protruded from the airbag opening 27. The fold-up method for the airbag 24 consists of a first folding process to perform folding along the folding line 30 stretching from the airbag opening 27 toward the forefront and a second folding process to fold up the airbag 24 in the form of bellows from the forefront toward the base end.
