CANNED OPTICAL SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module using a canned optical semiconductor device which is excellent in high frequency characteristics. SOLUTION: The optical module contains a canned optical semiconductor device which has a stem having a stem through hole, a through lead pin penetrating the stem through hole, and a glass which fixes the through lead pin into the stem through hole; and a flexible board mounting the stem. The stem through hole has a first hole and a second hole having a greater diameter than the first hole and the opening end on the base of the stem. A glass filet filled in the first hole and formed so as to project from the first hole is disposed in the second hole in an inward direction of the opening end of the second hole.
