Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glass layer capable of forming a uniform glass layer on an electrode with high workability so as not to adversely influence a discharge characteristic without mixing bubbles in a part where copper contacts glass in baking even if a dielectric layer is formed on the electrode mainly containing copper; and to provide a front plate of a plasma display panel having an accurate and uniform glass layer on an electrode. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of a glass layer includes at least (I) a process for heat-treating a glass substrate having a copper electrode, (II) a process for forming a mixture layer containing (a) glass particles and (b) an organic resin binder on the heat-treated glass substrate having the copper electrode, and (III) a process for forming a glass layer by baking the mixture layer. This front plate for a plasma display panel is provided with the glass layer formed by the manufacturing method of a glass layer on a front substrate for a plasma display panel having a copper electrode.
